Use

Provides the room effect with standardised rooms to enable the determination of the sound pressure level at a location within a room when subject to a sound power level.

User Inputs

  1. Lp in Room: Selection of the general parameters of the room (approximate reverberation time and volume from a drop down menu with a range of rooms and spaces with differing parameters including typical offices, theatres, gyms and ceiling spaces)
  2. Distance (m):The distance from the source to the location in the room to enable the calculation of the direct component of noise in the room
  3. Source Directivity: The directivity of the source with respect to the direct component (free space, hemispherical, etc;)
  4. Noise Criterion: Can select NC curve if desired.

Algorithm

Insertion loss is based on ASHRAE 2019 HVAC Applications Chapter 49 Noise and Vibration Control Section 2.5 associated formulae.

$L_{p,direct}=L_w +10\log(Q/4\pi r^2)$
