Use

SoundSurfer has two main types of database where data is stored—Global and Project. The databases are used to store data that is used within the SoundSurfer projects.

• Global Database—Company wide database that is input by your company’s administrator. Allows company wide, reviewed data to be used within all projects.
• Project Database—Individual project database. User can import relevant data from the Global Database or input other data.

The type of data that can be stored includes:

Currently the Criteria data is not used within SoundSurfer—This will be a future feature.

• Sound Power, dB(Z) data is available with the Show Search of the Element: Sound Power Level
• Sound Pressure, dB(Z) data is available with the Show Search of the Element: Sound Pressure Level
• Transmission Loss data is available with the Show Search of the Element: Sound Pressure Over Area and Element: Room Noise Transfer
• Insertion Loss data is available with the Show Search of the Element: Insertion Loss (Sound Power) and Element: Insertion Loss (Sound Pressure)
• Absorption Coefficients is available with the Show Search of the Element: Custom Room (RT Calc).

User Input

When data is added, the name, description, data type, category, source citation, and source description is added by the user.

Data can be added as octave or third-octave band data, as linear or A-weighted data. When entered, it will be converted to linear octave band data for use within SoundSurfer.

Users are able to bulk upload data using an excel spreadsheet or manually enter data individually.
